Moving to South Carolina

We have some good friends that are moving back to South Carolina and sold their home here pretty fast. They found an agent to use in South Carolina, Litchfield Real Estate, in hopes of moving quickly. They’ve been looking at different areas and have preferred the Georgetown SC real estate to other areas. They don’t want to live oceanfront, saying it’s actually cheaper to live more inland.

The cost of living is less in South Carolina than out here and living in Georgetown, as it turns out, is cheaper than living in, say, Myrtle Beach or Charlotte. Being in Georgetown pretty much puts them in the middle of those two places anyhow.

They’ve been looking at renovated Georgetown SC real estate – older homes on Front Street by the river that have recently gone through major renovations. You just can’t find that sort of craftsmanship in modern day homes, they said. They talk like they’ve already found something they want to buy. Since one of their dreams is to own a boat I’m sure a house on the river would be perfect for them, especially if it comes with a dock and a place to store a boat.

The area really sounds great plus the ocean is nearby. Georgetown is a quaint town, almost a city by my standards. Generations of families have lived there and the Southern hospitality runs deep and true. We’re going to miss our friends when they move but we look forward to visiting them in their new home in Georgetown, South Carolina.
